Cold rise bread

Cold rise breadThis is a really easy recipe that I saw on Australian Masterchef and manically went looking for something to write with so I could transcribe it. It’s a really good recipe if you want freshly baked bread in the morning without getting up at 5 to make it or dirty hands.

Cold rise bread

1 tbsp granulated dry yeast

2 tsp of salt

1 kg of wheat flour

900 ml of lukewarm water

  1. Mix yeast, salt and flour together in a big bowl. Add water and mix with a spoon. It’s quite a wet dough so mixing with a spoon is entirely doable.
  2. Cover with plastic wrap and let it rise in the fridge overnight.
  3. Next morning, turn the oven up to 200 degrees celsius and cover two baking trays with parchment. Lightly dust the parchment with flour. Divide the dough onto the trays and bake for about 30 minutes. (Whether you want a big loaf or smaller buns is entirely up to you) And there you have it, freshly baked bread in the morning.
