A bamboo lunch

BambooI was recently taken to a place called Shimpuku, apparently renowned for its temples, bonsai trees and bamboo. This meal for example was served almost entirely on bamboo ware. Only the hot items; rice, chawan mushi (which is egg pudding of some sort) and soup were not served in bamboo ware.

The meal itself also consisted of bamboo served in different ways, most surprisingly as a dessert. The three skewers in the middle colored black, yellow and green were bamboo with different types of sweet sauce on top. While I wouldn’t say it substitutes ice cream or cake it did provide with a little sweetness after the meal and best of all, you don’t feel like you need to exercise after eating it.
